Ello Ello!

If you've made it to this page, then welcome! More than likely this means you are interested in the happenings in my life. I've been considering deleting my Facebook account for a few months and ultimately decided that it was indeed time. I may find my way back after some time away, because ultimately this is a big experiment. There are a few reasons why I wanted to do away with the ever popular social networking site...

1.) Facebook just isn't the right tool for me - It has come to a point where I don't find it to be very conducive of anything positive. I'm hoping that this blog will be a more productive way to share my thoughts and experiences. If you're here, then you know that I do not live near my dear family and friends (real life friends). I do want a way to share with the people I care about, but not at the expense of losing all privacy and control... Which is what Facebook was beginning to make me feel like.

2.) Relationships and social circles - I don't find Facebook to be of any particular help when it comes to relationships. I have a large friends list that consists of many people I'm really not even friends with in real life. My real life social circle is much smaller and exclusive.

3.) Class and values - Do people have any these days? From my perspective Facebook has become a feeding ground for super personal information. And shockingly, people just willingly put it out there. Where is the class, the mystery, the values? I know this is definitely a personal preference, but there are some things that are so intimate and complex and they do not belong on such a shallow application.

4.) Honestly, it annoys me - When I first began using Facebook things were fairly simple. The interface involved almost nothing but interaction. Now there are so many other applications and tools that have been integrated. The games, the quizzes, the suggestions... Just leave me be! The most impertinent information shows in my news feed. I don't care if someone I am 'friends' with comments on some person I am NOT 'friends' with's slutty Halloween pictures.

So, basically... I hope that this blog will serve as a healthy outlet without bombarding people who really don't care about the goings on in my life. It seems like a good alternative, because viewers can still follow me via blog and even comment on posts. This takes a little more effort to pay a visit to, so if you're here... Then you have to want to be. So, take off your coat and get comfy... Because some pretty exciting things are happening in Ashworth Land.

Cheers to a new undertaking!
