Ezra at 2 Months Old

Growth & Appearance:
You weigh 14 lbs 1 oz. You are 25 inches long. You wear 6 month clothing and size 3 diaper.

Your hair is medium brown. Much of your newborn hair has fallen out, especially on the top and a ring around the middle of your head where you lay on my arm. The hair at your nape never fell out and is longer. It’s hard for me to believe we produced two blue-eyed children, but that appears to be the case.

You have a cute round head with a splotchy birthmark on your crown.

You have one elf ear, presumably from me. The line between where your chin ends and your neck begins is nonexistent. It’s all one glorious thing. Your smile is the sweetest, and sometimes crooked. One other thing that’s crooked - your butt crack. Really. The top inch of it.

Development:
When you look at me, I can tell that you know things. While in the hospital, I opened my eyes from a nap and looked over to find you wide-eyed and staring straight through me from your crib. I will never forget it. It's as if you are unsurprised by this world, like you've been here before.

You watch as people move about the room. You especially seem to lock onto Dad when he’s nearby. You like sounds. I have an app on my phone to play various sounds or white noise, especially for car rides. You don’t enjoy riding in the car.

You’ve started sucking on your fingers and fist. You’ve also started drooling and making spit bubbles. You’ve started socializing with some sweet cooing. It’s mostly in response to us talking to you, but you also try to seduce the ceiling fan.

You snort when getting upset, you have since birth. You usually give us lots of fussing before resorting to full on crying. You do have one cry that is downright pitiful and it kills both your father and I. Overall, you’re pretty mellow.

You’re ticklish and will jerk your feet away from anything that tickles. You don’t like tummy time.

Feeding:
You’re a devout boob baby. You nurse every 1-2 hours during the day. You absolutely refuse a bottle and a pacifier. We’ve tried many brands to no avail.

You have a shallow latch. You had a tongue tie clipped at 3 weeks old, which I thought would help - it didn’t. I’ve tried to correct your latch, but it’s just your way. It’s not affecting your intake and I’m not sore. It just makes you a sloppy eater.

Sleeping:
Your sleep finally leveled out some around 8 weeks. Before that you were awake every 2 hours through the night like clockwork. Then one night you went for 3 hours and the very next night went to 4, then the next to 5. Now you’ve leveled off at a 4 hour stretch, followed by 2 hour increments for the remainder of the night. You go to bed around 8:30 pm and wake up around 6:30 am with the rest of the family. We’re cosleeping.

You’ve just started to cut back on day time snoozing. You cat nap all day with one longer nap around lunch.

Favorites:
You love a bath - except the part where you’re removed from it. You enjoy the sound of the bath running. Being worn in the wrap. My boobs.
