Pregnancy: Week 39 & Violet's Due Date

The early bird... Comes before her due date.

Violet's due date is today, which is really hard to believe. For whatever reason, I thought she would be here by now. But I've already learned one thing about this child... She is out to prove everybody wrong.

Everyone thought she was a boy. Nope.
Everyone thought she would come in April. Nope.
Everyone thinks she's going to be smallish. I should probably be worried.

So, more waiting and wondering. At my doctor's appointment on Tuesday nothing had changed since last week. Still 70% thinned. Still 1 cm dilated. However, Violet is still hanging out really really low. So low, in fact, that doing anything at all is really difficult these days.

Tuesday, April 30
I was having terrible lower back pain last night. And the pressure in my pelvis made it nearly impossible for me to walk or sit/stand. After consulting the doula and a nurse at the birthing center, we decided to go in for some monitoring to make sure it wasn't back labor. When they hooked me up to the monitor I was surprised to find out that I was actually having contractions. And quite a few of them too. Some of them felt like a tightening sensation, but for the most part I didn't feel them at all.

The bottom chart is my contractions. My crazy contractions.
At the end of it all they deemed it "early labor." The contractions just weren't regular enough. There would be 15 minutes of contractions right on top of one another, then a 5 minute lull, and so on. So we came back home babyless (which I expected), but with a better idea of what was going on.

Our due date! Sunday, May 5
A few more photos from this week.

Our Magnolia tree is starting to bloom and smells amazing!
My Hydrangea is also blooming!
Grilling out on a dreary evening in our pajamas!
Physically, I'm so done with being pregnant. But I have no intentions of being induced unless I absolutely have to be. Fortunately, my doctor is cool with that. She is comfortable with letting me go until 42 weeks. The thought of going for that long is quite depressing. I'm really hoping Violet has plans to come sooner.

Only time will tell...
