Ezra at 9 Months

Growth & Appearance:
You weigh 21 lbs. You are 32 inches long. 24 month or 2T clothing. Size 5 diapers.

Your hair is still a flirty tone between brown and blonde. It's gotten a bit longer and at times is fluffy, sticking up from sleeping. The new hair growing in seems distinctly brown.

You have a tiny tiny mole on your thigh. 6 teeth.

Eating:
You nurse every 3 hours or so during the day. You also eat whatever we're eating. You can spot someone preparing food from across a room and will start calling out to them and smacking your lips. While eating, you make a lot of growling sounds.

You've still not mastered drinking from any type of cup. Bottles never did happen. Neither did traditional sippy cups. You do best with the 360 cup, but even so you only take a small drink occasionally. After you eat food you usually want to nurse briefly and I suspect it's just for thirst after eating.

Sleeping:
You go to bed between 8:30-9. You nurse on both sides (something your sister never needed to do), then require 5-10 minutes of bouncing and you're out. You sleep in about 3 hour stretches, though you have slept as long as 6 hours. Night nursing is typically for comfort I believe, and not hunger. You get up between 6:30-7:30, talking before your eyes ever open.

Two naps a day, usually around 10 and 3. Anywhere from 45 minutes-2.5 hours.

Development:
It's as if you woke up one morning and had crossed some threshold into a new level of understanding. You are very much aware of the goings-on of the house. A few days ago you stayed with your dad in the living room while I came to take a bath. As water ran into the tub, the door silently swung open and you crawled in and took up residence right by the tub. Your dad said as soon as you heard the water you skipped town. You make it your business to be with me at all times.

You will let go and stand stand unassisted for several seconds at a time, eventually lowering yourself down into a squat. You've shown some interest in taking steps while standing, but crawling is still your mode of travel. You're speedy that way and lower to the ground, which serves your need to put every-damn-thing in your mouth well.

You're a bit more independent and able to entertain yourself with some toys in the floor. That is, if you can't see me. If you catch a glimpse or a whiff of me, you get real pitiful and dramatically crawl toward me crying, "ma-ma-ma-ma."

You've developed a gross fascination with the toilet. Also, the dog bowls. You dump the water bowl over at least once a week. You find great joy in smacking the spilled water on the floor.

You've started waving, or at least imitating our wave and will say "bye-bye" while doing so. You also will bop up and down in a little dance if we sing or play music.

Dogs are hysterical. All dogs. Our dogs. Stranger dogs. You will chuckle at Drake simply walking by. You will chuckle in the stroller if someone passes us walking a dog. You say "pup-pup" and seem to correlate it with the real thing. You've offered Drake your food. He, of course, accepts.

You've pushed people off of me if they touch me while holding you. Possessive is not a virtue.
