Pregnancy: Week 25 & 26

This past couple of weeks have been... Interesting. I really haven't felt that well, but some of my ailments weren't pregnancy related at all. I've had some weird sinus/allergy stuff going on which has led to me waking up every morning with painfully dry nasal passages. Then completely congested twenty minutes later. And sometimes my nose is completely stopped up and running at the same time. That one is fun. Add that to what I surmise has been a stomach bug and that just about wraps up the last week. I don't mean to whine, but being pregnant and sick just doesn't seem fair!

Around the second half of week 25 I suddenly and unexpectedly exchanged my usual back/side pain in for a different kind. The pain I've been experiencing for the past couple of months has been more on my side at my ribs. That pain felt like I was being stabbed with a knife. It was pretty relentless. A few weeks ago my doctor suggested a new bra and that really has seemed to help some, although it didn't diminish it completely. My new pain is in my lower back, but only the right side, just like the previous pain. It is more of a deep aching pain. It really isn't any better or worse than the other pain, so it was an even trade I suppose. Now, I just better not get both simultaneously. Aside from the despairing back pain, I was introduced to some other new pregnancy symptoms this week. Aching knees, hips, and an extremely hyperactive bladder.

Okay, I'm done complaining now!

Week 25: Take 1
Week 25: Take 2

I have continued to have dreams about fish and water, along with other crazy dreams. However, I had a dream this week that was really memorable and seems significant. In the dream I was grocery shopping at the commissary here on post. As I was going about my business I saw an old lady wearing a hooded cloak. After some time passed she approached me and I saw that she was festooned with strange jewelry and crystals. The best way I know to describe her is gypsy-like. Perhaps, a fortune teller. She extended a boney hand to my belly and told me that two more full moons would come and go and that my baby would be born on the third full moon from then. That was all of the dream. Upon awaking I, of course, googled the full moon calendar for the year. The third full moon falls on April 25. Every full moon has a name. For example, most people know of the Harvest Moon. This particular full moon is called the Pink Moon. It's sometimes referred to as the Fish Moon, which is ironic considering the fish dreams.

The Farmers' Almanac said the following about this moon:
"Full Pink Moon – April: This name came from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names for this month’s celestial body include the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes the Full Fish Moon, because this was the time that the shad swam upstream to spawn."

So, it seems this moon is closely related to spring time and new life. April 25 is about a week and a half before my due date and I have said all along that I felt like she would make her appearance in April, but I would never be so bold as to predict an actual date. My subconscious has obviously made its prediction. Time will tell!

Week 26
I took advantage of the fitness center on post this week. I particularly enjoyed the stationary bike. I've never been a huge fan of working out, so I really surprised myself by going about 3.5 miles on the bike in 20 minutes. After my bike ride I paid a visit to the indoor pool which felt sinfully wonderful. I slept so well that night and it eased some of my aching, so I hope to make this a routine.

Along with the usual kicks, I've been feeling some 'gliding' sensations lately. She weighs approximately two pounds at this stage and she must really be rolling around in there! Speaking of weight, I've gained about 17 pounds at this point (no shame!). Some weeks I don't gain any weight at all and then some I gain two or three pounds. I actually enter week 27 and the infamous third trimester tomorrow. From my understanding it seems a lot of women experience more of a weight gain in the final stretch (along with muuuuch discomfort). All I can say is bring it on third trimester! I am ready.
