Pregnancy: Week 27
I had a doctor's appointment yesterday where I had another ultrasound to check the status of the cyst that I talked about in the week 24 post. After several minutes of looking, the ultrasound tech couldn't find anything at all! To much relief, the cyst is completely gone. I had a feeling that everything was going to be okay, but it feels great to know. My doctor believes that technology is advancing quickly and we are able to see things like this now, whereas we couldn't see them before. She believes it's a part of normal brain development and that we just don't always know what to make of it just yet. So, we have a perfectly healthy little girl.
Ben and I were in high spirits yesterday after the good report. We decided to go out on a little celebratory date. It came a thunder shower as we were leaving the house and then an impressive rainbow streaked across the sky. You could see the entire thing, from end to end. I realized that it had been a while since I had seen a rainbow. I have to admit, it lifted my spirits even more.
I've had the unwelcome return of some mild nausea this week, along with some weird fainting/dizzy spells. I spoke to my doctor about it yesterday and, after some blood work, she believes I'm anemic. Not severely, just enough to make me feel less that great. She said it's pretty common for pregnant women to experience drops in iron levels because our body is demanding so much. Like all pregnant women, my blood volume has increased by about 40% which means it can take a while for my blood pressure to level off when I change positions. So, the two paired together aren't a fun combination. I take a prenatal multivitamin daily, but she said I could add an additional iron supplement if I'd like. Alternatively, she said I could focus more on getting iron in my diet. I've decided to give that a try. I don't eat meat every day and when I do I usually just eat it once a day, so she suggested eating more meat, along with a few other additions to my daily diet. I'm sure I'll be feeling better in no time with some minor adjustments.

I look kind of testy in this picture. Probably because my hair is growing out and I look like a teenage boy. I cut almost 12 inches of hair off back in August and returned to a bob similar to what I sported a few years ago. It was a great idea until pregnancy made my hair grow faster than lightning. So I've just about given up trying to make it look decent.
I'm really excited about the upcoming months! The baby shower is coming up in March and I can't wait to spend some time with family and friends. We're also preparing the nursery by re-purposing furniture. I'll be sharing some photos of that soon, so stay tuned!
