Pregnancy: Week 31

These blog posts are kind of funny because I usually don't write them until the week I'm writing about is over. Or almost over. I actually begin every new week on Sundays, so that means as of today I have eight more weeks of growing a baby. And that's if she doesn't come early!

I have moments where it hits me that we're in the 30's! It's always seemed so far away. This week went by quickly, but all in all it was a good set of days. I had another doctor's visit earlier in the week. As usual, it involved a lot of waiting and about five minutes of actually seeing the doctor. She measured my belly and I'm now measuring right on track. Up until this week baby girl was measuring a little on the small side. We obviously had a growth spurt this week and it was quite obvious to me and my aching body. Earlier on in the pregnancy I was experiencing ligament pains down low from everything kind of stretching and expanding. The ligament pains have been on a hiatus and showed their ugly face again this week worse than ever.

This little flower is getting strong. I can feel her kicks and punches all the time. However, I'm never sure which is which. It's hard to tell what is what in there. I do know that she lives almost exclusively on the right side of my belly. And, unfortunately, very much in my ribcage. Ben has a theory that she lives on the right side because he is to my right in bed and most anywhere we go, like the movies. Speaking of, we may have had our last movie theater outing for a long while today. Ben and I go to the movies quite regularly and went to see Oz the Great and Powerful today. The movie was good, but I just couldn't wait for it to end.

Aside from the ligament jazz and back pain (what's new), I noticed at the beginning of the week that my wedding ring was a little snug. Uh oh. Well, yesterday I thought I was going to have to rip my finger off just to remove it. Ben told me to officially retire it for the remainder of the pregnancy, so I reluctantly did. I wear a ring I got on South Congress in Austin on my other hand. It's really charming with a rose quartz stone in it and it's pretty special to me. It's just a tad bit larger than my wedding ring, so I've been sporting it on my love finger instead. So I officially feel huge and am definitely entering into the uncomfortable stage that I've heard so much about. As of this morning I've gained 23 pounds. Rolling out of bed is starting to look like a circus act.
31 weeks - Feeling (and looking) huge. Can you find the cat tail?
We made some progress on the nursery this week! We finally got her crib and put it up, as well as cleaned out any non-nursery items from the room. We had kind of been using it as storage. There's only one large item left to go in there, which is at my mom and dad's house in Tennessee getting some fresh paint. It's actually a dresser that my sister and I used as children. I'm really excited to have it be a part of the nursery. A lot of things in there are being created (insert magical sound) by either me or my mom. So it's been a work in progress. Once we have the shower I'll have a better idea of how much stuff we have and where it's all going to go. I hope to finish everything up within the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Found this guy napping in the nursery this week on a set of bibs Bren gave me.
This upcoming weekend is my baby shower and I couldn't be more excited. I mostly can't wait to see everyone, especially by best friend Bren who is driving in from Texas to spend the week with me! So next week's post should be a fun one!
