Pregnancy: Week 32 & The Baby Shower

I'm a little late getting this one up. We spent the weekend in Tennessee and after an exhausting few days we're back in Alabama. But as soon as I started working on this post Ben came down with a terrible stomach virus. So we spent our night at the ER last night (yea, it was that bad). I'm crossing my fingers that I don't get it too.

Firstly, this sweet girl's name is official and we've been sharing it with everyone this past week. We've had it selected for a while now, but wanted to share it with everyone a little later.

Violet Eliza

Everyone has been asking if it's a family name. Turns out Ben and I both have a Violet on each side of our families, but she's not named after anyone. I was only six weeks pregnant when I heard a song that planted the Violet seed in my head and I was never able to let it go. Luckily, Ben really loved the name and before we knew it we were calling her by it. After that there was really no going back. As for Eliza, that was actually the name that my mother had picked out for me before I was born, but changed it last minute. I've always had a mysterious connection to the name. When I was little I even had dolls and toys named Eliza, Liz, or Elizabeth. My first kitty cat was named Lizzie and she was quite special. So, it just felt right to give this special name to a special person.

Despite the swollen feet and aching back, week 32 has been the best yet! We had our baby shower in Tennessee over the weekend and it was truly perfect. There was lots of friends, family, food and surprises for Violet. The best part was being able to see so many loved ones that I don't get to see on a regular basis. I am so grateful for those that made this shower happen. It certainly wouldn't have been what it was without my mother and mother-in-law. And can I just talk a second about the serious baby loot we received. We're pretty much set to go on all things Violet now. It took some organizing to fit it all in the car to bring back to Alabama and I'm still not finished sorting through it all. I am so thankful for the love and support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'll talk more about the gifts when I post about the nursery here in a couple of weeks. But here are some photos of the lovely shower.

The invitation sporting a little hint to someone special's name.

My childhood bear and favorite book Corduroy.
Special cards for guests to write to Violet.

Wildflower seed packets for the guests to take as favors.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

We thank you for being here at our shower,
Please continue to help
us in welcoming this flower.

Plant these seeds in time for spring,
Watch and see what they will bring.

It won't be long before they sprout,
About the time that she'll be out.

So please enjoy as your flowers appear,
And think of Violet once she's here.
